Gott’s Roadside – St. Helena, CA

Formerly known as Taylor’s Refresher, Gott’s is THE burger spot in town!   There are 3 locations in the greater Bay Area – The Ferry Building in San Francisco, The Oxbow Market in Napa and here off of highway 29 in St. Helena.  Most burger joints just offer the expected – hamburger, cheeseburger, fries, shakes, etc.  Not the case here.  There’s everything from your traditional bacon cheeseburger to shrimp tacos and chinese chicken salad.

On a recent visit with my husband and some friends, we all chose something different.  I went for the Spicy Chicken Sandwich which was very satisfying however I could have used a little more kick!  My husband went classic and got the Bacon Cheeseburger which was perfect, juicy and everything you would want in a cheeseburger.  I definitely had to steal a bite:)  Along with fries and onion rings (the best I’ve had!), we splurged and also got the special zucchini fries.  How can you say no to something that has “while they last” in parenthesis next to them?  I’ve been on a zucchini kick so I really liked them however when looking back at my pictures I realized what was missing…the home made ranch sauce they said came with them.  Darn!  Next time.

The cute picnic area out back where we enjoyed our insanely indulgent lunch

Bacon Cheeseburger – American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles & secret sauce served on a toasted egg bun

Spicy Chicken – grilled, chili spice-marinated chicken breast, sliced avocado, Mexican slaw, cilantro sour cream & charred jalapeño mayo on a toasted sourdough roll

Dick’s – Seattle, WA

Ask anyone from Seattle and I’m sure they’ll all say that they love Dick’s.  Unless of course they’re transplants, in which case they might say that the fries are “soggy” or that the burgers “aren’t anything special”…well, they’re wrong!  Especially at 1am after a night of drinking:)  No but seriously, Dick’s burgers are something I grew up eating and still love to this day.  They’re old school with their greasy bun, greasy fries that turn the bag translucent and soft drinks with shaved ice.  And the prices!!!  Come on…you can’t beat them!  The most expensive burger on the menu (the Deluxe) is $2.70.  Fries…$1.50.  And you have to get the tartar for dipping!  It’s not like your typical fish & chips tartar…it’s a little sweet with hints of pickle.  It’s perfect and I don’t share, just ask my husband:)  If I’m feeling like something special I get the Special which is a burger with the tartar on it.  SO good!  Just be sure that you have cash…that’s all they take.

I know this cheeseburger might look wimpy but it’s not!  It’s simple, made with fresh ingredients and will leave you wanting to come back for another one.

Oh the fries…how I love them so much!  They’re made daily with fresh potatoes and are devoured quickly:)

Red Mill Burgers – Seattle, WA

Best burger in Seattle!!!  There are a lot of contenders but I personally think this one is the best!  It was even featured on an episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”.

My go to burger is the Red Mill Deluxe w/ Cheese…it’s perfect!  Juicy 1/4 lb patty, American cheese, Mill Sauce, tomato, pickle and onion (I ask for mine grilled).  I always get fries…my own because my husband has learned that if we “share” I will still manage to eat them all.  I’m a french fry fiend.  I also top off this low calorie meal with a sparkling lemonade.  It’s kind of like a treat to me.  I normally only drink water (unless it’s dinner and there’s wine around) but this sparkling lemonade is amazing!  SO fizzy and refreshing…I love it!

My husband and most people I know go for the Bacon Deluxe w/ Cheese.  The bacon is incredible…peppery and crisped to perfection:)  I also love the Red Mill Chicken Sandwich when I’m feeling like something not so greasy.  Enjoy!
